How to make Chorizo and Prawn Pasta
This Chorizo and Prawn Pasta recipe really is so easy to make!
All you need to do is cook the pasta according to packet instructions (or your own preferences!) then drain immediately when cooked to your liking.
Meanwhile, fry diced onions, red pepper and chorizo then add passata and simmer for 5 minutes. Next, add the prawns and double cream and cook for 2 more minutes over a low heat, then turn off the heat.
Finally, tip the cooked pasta into the sauce and stir in some fresh basil (optional, but highly recommended!) and that’s it. Easy Peasy!

What to serve with Chorizo and Prawn Pasta
This easy pasta dish is a complete meal in its own right. But if you are feeling the need for something extra, serve with garlic bread and/or a green salad.
What to drink with Chorizo and Prawn Pasta
To go with the bold flavours in this dish I recommend a bold and gutsy Sauvignon Blanc from somewhere like Chile or New Zealand.
If you prefer red, try a Rioja Crianza (or similar Spanish wine) or a Chianti (or similar Italian wine).
Another great option would be a fruity rosé from the South of France or Spain.
Make it your own
This recipe is very flexible, so feel free to adapt it to suit your tastes! Here are a few ideas:
- Use regular prawns instead of jumbo prawns
- Use diced chicken breast instead of the prawns (See this recipe for how.)
- Use lardons (or diced bacon) instead of the chorizo
- Use a different colour pepper, instead of (or as well as) the red pepper
- Use diced courgette, aubergine, carrots or mushrooms, instead of (or as well as) the red pepper
- Use dried oregano, instead of (or as well as) the basil
- Use dried Italian mixed herbs, instead of (or as well as) the basil
(Did you adapt this recipe? I’d love to hear about it! Let us know in the comment section below.)

Super easy and tasty midweek dish. Hubby loved it and wouldn’t normally have a pasta and prawn meal but I’m sure the chorizo made up for it. Great recipe to share with friends 🙂
