My recipes are all tested and approved by my harshest critics: my two kids, who will always give their VERY honest opinion!

Hi Eb,
I found your site quite by accident. I love Nando’s food and was looking for recipes to recreate them in my home. I do a lot of marinating and baking of chicken, beef, etc., mainly because my daughter had a few allergies and wanted to use a healthier form of cooking. We are Indian from the stiate of Goa, albeit resident in the very hot Persian Gulf state of Dubai. I am going to try out your fakeaway recipe and give you my feedback. I was surprised at the various Indian style dishes you have. Your repertoire is international. Going trawling now for other recipes. Will be back soon. Thank you for your wonderful site.
Eb Gargano says
So pleased you like my website – that makes me very happy! Oh yes, my repertoire is very international. I just love different cultures and cuisines and love looking at traditional / authentic recipes and then adapting them to make them do-able on busy weeknights. I hope you find plenty of recipes you enjoy – do let me know what you make! Eb 🙂

Hello Eb!
How lovely to find a really good food blog ‘our side of the pond’. Yours is particularly well presented and inspiring. So many of the better food blogs are geared to US tastes and products. Super photos, too. I’m going to have a wee snipe now… forgive me… I recently bought a cookbook associated with a ‘slimming’ blog, and it was extremely disappointing. The two bloggers are extraordinarily hefty given that it is a diet blog that has been around for some time. Not very confidence inspiring, and the meals looked like dogs dinners in some of the photos. So, snark over, and I shall much enjoy the beautiful food ‘porn’ on your site! You are clever!
All best from the other end of the island (Scotland)

Hi Yve – thank you so much for this lovely comment! I am so pleased you are finding my website so inspiring. And thanks for your compliment about my photos. My food photography is something I’ve worked hard on over the years, so I am glad my hard work is paying off. And lovely to hear from the other end of our island 😀 Scotland is one of my favourite places on earth – I wish it was not so far away! I would visit much more often if it were a nearer. Eb 🙂

Bonjour Éd pur le régime sirt food peut on remplacer le choux kalé. Je n’en trouve pas facilement en france
Eb Gargano says
I’m not sure there’s an easy answer for that one – the sirtfoods are a group of foods which have unusual properties that are supposed to activate our sirtuin genes, which helps with weight loss. Kale is shown to be one of those foods – in fact it is in the top 20 sirtfoods and there is nothing similar in the top 20. However from a culinary point of view any dark green leafy vegetable would make a good replacement (e.g dark green cabbage, savoy cabbage, cavalo nero…) or failing that, green beans, broccoli or pak choi would also be good alternatives. Hope that helps and best of luck with the sirtfood journey!

Hi Eb, I have just found your website and passed it on to my two daughters.
The senior daughter has just had a shoulder operation so is eating one handed, left one! I’m the one feeding her until she regains more movement. I was going to make lamb and apricots but when I looked up my recipe there’s a note saying ‘not enough to distinguish it’. Searching for a better recipe I found all your lamb recipes. Wonderful. I already do 4 hour roast shoulder of lamb, courtesy of my junior daughter, but wondered if yours was different. I loved the idea of onions, red wine and gravy too. Will be trying that one. I always do lamb chops on a bed of onions, covered about 25 mins then opened to brown the chops. Onions taste delicious. Don’t know why I never thought of doing the shoulder like that too. I love cooking, do a lot and have a good reputation for it but I’m always open to new ideas. I’ve made menus from when I first married in 1965 as I had a limited amount to spend. I have my housekeeping books still. Menu one page and opposite the shopping list. I got a bit lax with time and more money but the lockdown and using up freezer food found me reinstating it. Wednesday was always a ‘new recipe day’. Sometimes never to be repeated but lots entered the repertoire. Sorry for this long note but thank you for some more inspiration. At 78 I’m not too old to learn. Regards Tricia Reynolds
Eb Gargano says
Aw, thank you for this lovely note – so good to hear you are enjoying my website and recipes. I loved reading about your housekeeping books. And I highly approve of having a ‘new recipe day’ once a week – such a great way to always keep things interesting! Thanks for taking the time to share all this with me! Eb 🙂
Donna says
Hi Eb,
Thank you for your “LEFTOVER ROAST BEEF STROGANOFF” recipe. I have been making it since the first time I stumbled upon it almost a year ago.
You see, my daughter does not eat meat. She has autism (both my kids are autistic) and she only eats fruits, vegetables, and carbs. A different kind of picky eater! That’s for sure!
Anyway, I make roast beef in the slow cooker a lot and there are always leftovers every time I do. I started making leftover stroganoff using your recipe. My daughter LOVES it! Because of your recipe, she has learned to love all the stroganoff made in this house. I have you to thank for that, and I realize I have not thanked you yet. So, thank you!
All the best,
Donna
Eb Gargano says
Hi Donna, Thank you so much for this lovely message! I am so happy to hear you daughter likes my stroganoff recipe so much, especially given she usually doesn’t like meat. And I am delighted to hear that it has helped her widen her repertoire of foods she is happy to eat! Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know. Eb 🙂
Charles says
Hi Ed,
I’m just looking for easy peasy recipes for two, not too spicy but everyday food that tastes good.
Warm regards,
Charles.
Eb Gargano says
Hi Charles, well you are in the right place! My website is full of easy peasy recipes, every day food that tastes good and nothing too spicy. The only box I don’t quite tick is ‘recipes for 2’ – most of my recipes are for 4, but they can be easily halved… (just change the number 4 to the number 2 in the recipe card and all the ingredients will be halved automatically for you). Or, alternatively, cook the full quantity and freeze half! Hope you find lots of new favourites! Eb 🙂

Hi Eb, having spent half my 60 plus years between the UK and Ireland I have made more soda breads than I can remember!. Being a part of The Irish community here in Birmingham I get asked to make quite a few soda breads for family occasions. I usually make White or Brown Soda’s,even half n half. I used your recipe to make the treacle and Guinness soda bread for the first time and included a few amongst the brown soda breads. My usual supporters/critics said it was the nicest brown soda bread they had tasted. Thank you for the wonderful recipe I’ll be using it on a regular basis. All the best to you and yours, Sèan.
Eb Gargano says
Aw, thank you so much for this lovely feedback! That’s so great to hear. I’m going to copy this over as a comment on the actual recipe too, as it may help others who are checking out the recipe 😀
Jacquie says
Hi Eb,
I’ve been listening to ‘Ultra Processed People’ on Audiobook and really want to get into cooking as much as possible from scratch. I was wondering if all your recipes are UPF-Free & if not is it obvious? As I’m just starting this journey with my 10 year old daughter I’m hoping to follow something pretty fool proof, and being a single mum who also runs her own business – I would really appreciate not having to figure all this stuff out on my own!
Eb Gargano says
Hi Jacquie, a lot of my recipes are UPF free, but not all of them. Most are low-UPF and pretty easily adapted. I’ve done a whole post on UPF free dinners here >>> https://www.easypeasyfoodie.com/easy-upf-free-dinners/ (It also covers some suggestions for other meals too!)
